Lesson 5 - Jesus Shows Us How To Love Others

Jesus Showed Us How To Love Others
Today we:
Read:  John 13:34
Sang:   Jesus Said Love Everyone
Heard:  a story about the 100 sheep and the lost one
Ate:  grapes, cheese and Fruitloops
Played:  Baby basketball  (two laundry baskets and foam balls)
Went:  looking for a lost lamb
Fingerplay:
Jesus said love everyone; (spread arms out wide)
Treat them kindly too. (nod head up and down)
When your heart is filled with love, (put hand over heart)
Others will love you. (hug self)

We made necklaces with Fruit Loops and seven paper hearts on string.  Two large hearts had their name on one and Love One Another on another.  They were the beginning and end of the necklace.  Five smaller hearts had 'Share' 'Smile' 'Kiss' 'Hug' 'Serve' on each of them and the children threaded five Fruit Loops in between each heart.  The hearts were made ahead of time and a hole punched in them.  We taped a toothpick to the string at one end so they could thread the cereal themselves.  They did a great job.  We told them when they do each of the five things on the hearts they could eat the Fruit Loops on the necklace.

The Lamb Hunt was the best.  The story follows, and you play the game like the old fashioned 'bear hunt'

Gonna find the baby lamb (sad)

Through the grass (rub palms of hands together and say shhh, shhh)
Up the hill (clicking sound with tongue and thumb and index finger make a circle and alternate up and down as we climb)
We look around (hand on forehead) (are you worried?)

Let's take it home
